Notes April 8, 2026
Projects
See project phases in the presentation
Recommended approximate timeline for the project:
- Presentations in 5 weeks
- Hopefully you already work on data acquisition, preprocessing, and validation
- 1 week basic exploratory analysis: examine different aspects of the data with basic plots, look for interesting observations
- 1 week for deeper analysis of selected areas, possibly acquiring and using additional data
- 1 week for completing analyses, preparing final graphs for the report and presentation, starting to create these documents
- 1 week for completing the presentation and report, practicing the presentation
- 1 week left so you can make one phase longer
Group work on projects
- We recommend creating independent tasks and working on them individually or in pairs
- Coordinating is also important:
- sharing code and findings,
- flexible changes to tasks according to circumstances,
- organizing results into a coherent whole
- Don’t forget about the project log, which should help you with coordination and also map your progress
This Friday
- First progress meeting for projects
- Have notes ready in project log + some preliminary results to show
- See project guidelines
- Use rest of the class for collaborating within groups
Second progress meeting Friday next week
